Verizon Wireless Hopeline

  • Hello Friends,

Please join us this month for Give Back Day, as we raise funds with Verizon Wireless Hopeline.  Verizon Wireless and Wireless Zone are partnering in a fundraising drive that will result in donations of up to $5,000 for one domestic violence prevention or response organization each in Evansville, Ind., Owensboro, Ky. and Henderson, Ky.  The beneficiaries are Holly’s House in Evansville, Oasis in Owensboro and The Child Advocacy Center of Green River District in Henderson.

Wireless Zone will donate $10 for every phone purchased at its stores in Evansville, Henderson and Owensboro on Saturday, February 18, as part of its regular, third-Saturday community donation program. Verizon Wireless will match Wireless Zone by donating $10, up to $5,000 total, for every no-longer-used phone that is donated throughout February at any Verizon Wireless or Wireless Zone store in the three markets to Verizon’s HopeLine program recycling program.

Holly’s House is an advocacy center that brings divisions of government together to respond to, investigate and prosecute cases of intimate violence. Oasis (Owensboro Area Shelter and Information Services) provides emergency shelter and non-residential counseling to approximately 300 women and children a year who are victims of domestic violence or who are homeless due to substance abuse. The Children’s Advocacy Center of Green River District is one of 15 such centers in Kentucky that works to prevent child abuse and family violence and promotes interagency collaboration to improve services for child abuse survivors and their families.

“We expect this fundraising partnership between Verizon Wireless and Wireless Zone to give a significant boost to the final number on the checks going to these three organizations,” said John Granby, president–Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region for Verizon Wireless. “Together, these organizations serve thousands of women and children every year at a time when the survivors are particularly vulnerable and the services these organizations provide can make a difference between suffering more violence and getting a fresh, safe start.”

“Our hope is that area residents who might be thinking about buying a new wireless device or donating one they no longer use will take advantage of this opportunity to help reduce the domestic violence problem we face in Kentucky and Southern Indiana,” said Christopher Jourdan, owner of the Wireless Zone franchise in the three markets.

Please help us by stopping at any of our locations and donating to this great cause.
